No rules, no progress. Apparently, Ford's government didn't learn that lesson from the Greenbelt scandal. If you profess to love Canada and 'the people', why is the government acting in opposition to our ethical standards and needs?

"Red tape" is a regulation that was established after a crisis to prevent it from happening again. If your ideas for investment and innovation are so flimsy or controversial that you must bulldoze the law and humanity, you should probably revise it and save us the long-term grief. It's short-termism at its worst.

Lack of protections is how land contamination, pollution and extinctions happened in the first place.

Must you send us back to pre-industrial ignorance?

You are setting up to fail if you imitate the Trump tactic of concentrating power. Not getting buy-in from First Nations and communities for their needs is authoritarian. This is how your government's corruption and accidents happened.

You eroded public confidence by fast-tracking a bad idea, hence, the Ontario Place catastrophe. Public opinion can snowball against projects like the Therme spa and can cause it to fail. It is a strategic misinterpretation of what "the people' want and need. True innovation doesn't dwell on legacy products and sunset industries.

Laws protecting employment and welfare rights ought not to be abrogated, unless you want to embroil yourself in a legal firestorm down the road. Cutting corners is a recipe for failure.

Industry has shown repeatedly that it is ethically incapable of policing itself without rules. If you take care of people and the earth, the economy will flourish.
