The Species at Risk Act should remain and not be repealed. Protecting species at risk protects whole ecosystems on which we depend. We cannot run roughshod over our environment. We have done this in the past and it has led to climate change, biodiversity loss and habitat degradation. The addition or removal of a plant or animal on species at risk list must remain in the hands of scientists. Giving this decision making power to politicians makes the protection of plants and animals political rather than scientific. This is a mistake..
