The fact that the government is looking to remove species and habitat protection to benefit developers without scientific input is absurd. Who has determined the registration process will be effective in protecting species? Who has determined habitat definitions can be shrunk?
It is alarming that the government will be able to decide which species are protected and which aren’t seemingly without any research. If ad developers want certain trees or bats deregulated, should the government, who has the responsibility to protect these species, just decide not to? Why? To benefit private business.
This is all very short sighted. Tariffs will be gone, the economy will rebound, but we will never get these species or habitat protections back and ultimately they will be lost forever. But, at least developers will make more profit.
