I strongly oppose this change to the endangered species act because it plans to redefine habitat needs for animals. Many animals such as foxes or other predators require a big range or territory, they do not only exist in one small space like an ant colony. Even if habitat is considered unoccupied currently it has importance for the distribution of a species and may become habitat for offspring. If these habitats are shrunk this amounts to habitat loss which will lead directly to extirpation or extinction.
This idea is a Trump-esqe plan, it is short sighted and selfish. As humans we need to protect the natural world for the sake of our children and for the other occupants of this planet who also have a right to exist.
