Much like the "unitary executive" approach made infamous by the Trump administration, this Special Economic Zone power would give Doug Ford blanket permission to decide which laws he and his "trusted partners" will or won't continue to observe, in areas small or large without limitation other than the total size of Ontario, for purposes which he and his chosen Cabinet may deem, in their sole and unreviewable discretion, to be important for the future of the Province.

It amounts to a sweeping "Just Trust Us" delegation of power to a Premier who has never been backed by a majority of voters. It is a nakedly antidemocratic power grab which should be withdrawn immediately.
