These provisions amount to a complete rejection of scientifically sound and globally agreed international protection approaches and targets for biodiversity conservation. By removing tracking removing and the requirement for recovery strategies, you are actively creating the conditions that will allow the extirpation and extinction of key species at risk. This is not only unconscionable, it is foolhardy - researchers are continuously finding new medicines and scientific applications for products provided by plants and animals. By causing their extinction we may well be causing our own.
