This bill is a travesty and will do nothing to make the lives of Ontarians better. The current Provincial government has already shown that their approaches to housing and transit are completely backward. The current Premier has refused to force NIMBY-laden municipalities to allow the building of fourplexes, and he is disastrously seeking to induce more vehicular traffic by expanding highways which will only serve to exacerbate inner-city gridlock. I don't see why we should seek to hasten his never-ending cavalcade of idiotic plans by removing critical checks and balances that presently exist to ensure the wellbeing of protected species. If - as this bill seeks to establish - the "government would also have discretion to remove protected species from the list" then it is guaranteed that all protected species will be removed from said list, because the current Provincial government serves the current Premier's donors and developer friends rather than its constituents.
