While we do absolutely have a problem here in Ontario with infrastructure and related projects taking way too long, and costing way too much, I strongly believe that the proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and the proposal for the Species Conservation Act, 2025 are the solution.

Consultations with environmental scientists remain an important part of protecting our wildlife here in Ontario, and while these consultation periods can be shortened, and studies can rely more on extrapolating existing data from similar sites, it is still important an important step when planning any large project. Doing away with this would be a grave mistake for Ontario and likely cause irreparable harm to our environment. We should do our best to preserve it while we still have the chance, while still allowing infrastructure to be built in a safe, responsible, and timely fashion.
