I object to the proposal to prevent public awareness and consultation on the proposed changes to Ontario Place. I participated in consultation for the environmental assessment for the redevelopment of Ontario place and spent a good deal of my time providing feedback through the Environmental Registry. I was somewhat shocked and disappointed to realize that the bulk of the identified heritage sites at Ontario Place were exempted from this environmental assessment process. Now it appears that not only are the public's comments not wanted but we are going to be actively prevented from commenting.
Ontario Place was paid for by the tax-payers of Ontario, it was our gift to ourselves. The Province should not have the right to spend millions of dollars to alter it without any feedback from the public.
On the issue of consultation I registered, several years ago, to receive notification from the Environmental Registry of any pending legislation or applications for any matters concerning Heritage or Planning, however I did not receive a notice of this piece of legislation. Why is that? If there was a breakdown in your notification process, more time must be allotted for consultation.
