The current approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk is not complicated enough. We must accept the time to complete and any needed delays to evaluate the impact of human sprawl —housing, transit, and any infrastructure —on ecosystems or we won’t have wildlife or habitat left to protect. We do need a new approach, and a government that understands we are a part of nature not exceptional, and that preservation of species at risk is essential if we are to survive as a species. This is a terrible proposal, the reason we are we are today, losing flora and fauna at an unprecedented rate.
