Bill 5 is not the way to get more housing built, and it’s not the way to safeguard our economy. Municipal building permits sit without any action, yet developers and the Ford government keep pushing for reduced restrictions to help developers get homes built. How about we start with those permits first?
The Species Conservation Act puts wildlife in danger, and there’s a real threat that special economic zones will destroy the protected Greenbelt and ORM. This is not the right approach to ensure housing gets built and our economy is thriving. It’s naive to think our economy will be sustainable when this Bill threatens to destroy the ecosystems around us.
This Bill is a complete step backward for truth and reconciliation. It undermines the Duty to Consult and tramples the rights of Indigenous People.
