I strongly oppose Bill 5.
This bill is an environmental disaster in the making. It would repeal the Endangered Species Act, wiping out protections for vulnerable wildlife, and could effectively ban solar energy-shutting the door on clean power while forcing Ontario to rely on costly, polluting fracked gas.
At a time when climate disasters are escalating, Bill 5 actively fuels the crisis. It makes it easier for developers to bypass environmental regulations, silences Indigenous voices by eliminating archaeological assessments, and grants the government unchecked power to ban foreign components in energy projects-crippling Ontario's ability to build affordable renewable energy.
Even worse, it fast-tracks destructive developments with little public consultation, prioritizing special interests over Ontario's future. We cannot afford to let this bill pass.
I urge you to reject Bill 5 and take a stand for our environment, our communities, and a livable future.
Ontarians and wildlife deserve better. Thank you.
