I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposal to exempt provincial permits and approvals related to the Ontario Place Redevelopment Project from the Environmental Bill of Rights.
The Environmental Bill of Rights exists to protect the health and well-being of all Ontarians - and all future Ontarians as well. As someone who lives near the proposed Ontario Place this is especially concerning. A development on that site could pollute the waters of Lake Ontario, which is our source of drinking water, and cause untold damage to our waterfront.
Rather than exempting any Ontario Place development from the Environmental Bill of Rights, any proposed development there should be held to the highest possible environmental standards.
