I believe this new law is harmful for the environment. It seems to come from an economic process and doesn't appear to draw any of it's information from environmental sources. Protecting an animal's immediate nest/den is good, but ultimately fruitless if you don't protect the range they need to hunt or gather within. Allowing a company to do work before they have environmental approval is reckless. Hiring more people to do the environmental assessments would provide a job boost, while speeding up the permit process without sacrificing the safety of our wildlife.
Please vote no to this legislation. There are better solutions to all of the current imperfections in this legislation. Conservation groups would happily assist to redefine ambiguous terms. More environmental assessors would speed up our permit processing plans.
Vote no. Protect a green Canada for our children, and for economic tourism.
