it is important to keep focus on recovery strategies and programming. To simply register and the move forward with projects is a huge risk to species as the proponent’s plan will not have been reviewed and there will be much less oversight and no recovery strategies. How are species to recover?
removing ESA goes against scientifically sound and globally agreed international protection approaches and target for biodiversity conservation.
this is toothless legislation that relies on voluntary compliance and discretionary implementation.
The government should not have to right to remove species from the list.
