The process needs to be slow…

The process needs to be slow in order to be effective. Unhindered development done without consideration for the beings, cultures and life ways that preexisted the Canadian/Provincial State, is what has brought us to the precipice we are at of seeing so many threatened and at risk species, with many that are currently endangered and others that have already become extinct.

We have lost 70% of wetlands in Ontario. These are incredibly significant places for biodiversity and the remaining 30% deserves rigorous protection and oversight over any development activities nearby.

Government and industry conveniently chooses to separate human needs from all the rest of life, where everything is a commodity, something to exteact or sell or otherwsie deemed "worthless". It is wrong to objectify these beings and the ecosystems they support and to proceed without a deeper awareness and understanding about all their importance and benefits. They are not objects that can just be thrown away. But you also need to know that preserving biodiversity does also have exonomic advantages. Saved costs from flooding etc and tourism dollars from sharing access to thriving wilderness spaces should be factored into the economic equations.
