I am opposed to the interim changes to the endangered species act 2007 and the proposal for the species conservation act 2025. These changes will allow special privileges to the premier and his friends to ignore all provincial and municipal laws including those that protect our farms, forests, and wetlands and endangered wildlife.
This proposal should be abandoned entirely because it undermines rather than advances any genuine effort to protect Ontario.
The government must prioritize the protection of endangered and threatened species and critical habitat over profits from reckless development that would benefit the premier and his friends.
Protecting biodiversity and advancing economic development can occur together with responsible innovation that respects our natural environment.
This has occurred effectively under the endangered species act 2007 which must not be repealed! We must say no to bill 5 which ends the rule of law.
