I live in Etobicoke Centre and I always remember that Mimico is named after the passenger pigeon which once numbered in the billions but was driven into extinction over a century ago. Maybe they didn't know what they were doing as they destroyed its habitat and hunted it to extinction.
But we do know today what species are endangered and how to protect them. What right does any of us have to permanently end a secies forever?
This is a deeply cynical proposal. What is a cynic? A person who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Listen to the scientists. Think of the world our children and granchildren and future generations will inherit, and ask whether you want to impoverish their world for short-term benefits.
