I do not support the proposed amendments to the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, 2023, that are to provide an exemption from the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 for proposals for provincial permits and approvals related to the Ontario Place Redevelopment Project.

Proper redevelopment of Ontario Place is imperative. It has been an important part of my life and many other Ontarians. From first going to the Children's Village in the 70s, to concerts and performances at the Forum in the 80s and the early 90s, to taking my own children to the water park and later Echo Beach for concerts, Ontario Place has remained a special place. What has happened to date, with the removal of the trees dating back to its construction is unconscionable and such as, the drawings of the proposed redevelopment with mature trees in most, make these images in no way resemble the reality of what is left of the landscape/treescape.

I firmly do not support further allowing the provincial government to sidestep provincial permits and approvals for the Redevelopment of Ontario Place.
