What about the current process to obtain a permit is "slow and complex, causing unnecessary delays and costs for housing, transit, and critical infrastructure"? The entire proposal hinges on this one sentence yet I don't see the citations for this statement. Please excuse my reading skills if I have somehow glossed over it.
I would like to see specific quantitative analysis of how much delay is caused by obtaining these permits on projects and how much it increases costs for housing, transit, and critical infrastructure.
As a Civil Engineer in Ontario, there is a process for all projects to obtain any necessary permits for wildlife protection. In my 10 years as an engineer I recall 1 time where a wildlife related permit delayed a project.
Our wildlife protection laws are not the reason for our housing crisis, and the proposal statement is written in a way that implies this.
