Hello, we are tourist outfitters in the WMU 29 (Minakwa Lodge).
The modernization proposal is a fantastic idea, especially the app where clients can still access their licence infos on their phones. Many areas on lakes, land etc have no cell service, and this option makes it much easier for all anglers. Paper copies can easily get wet, lost, or damaged. We always put customers' paper copies in ziploc bags as an added service, yet those that have access to the app would most probably choose it instead. The app would also remove the confusion of needing a .pdf copy and not a snapshot of licences / summaries.
As tourist outfitters living 1.5hrs from the closest MNRF office, YES- anything electronic makes things much simpler for us and for our customers. The majority of our customers are driving 8+ hours to come here to fish / hunt, and anything that can facilitate their experience here is a bonus.
Also, a Canada Post strike poses extra challenges for us- the most reliable and cost-effective way to get Forms 33s for instance is to drive to the MNRF office.
Also, I strongly believe that having more 'responsibility/independence' as a Tourist Outfitter when it comes to licence applications etc, would alleviate some workload to the MNRF staff. It is nice though to have a key person that can answer questions we may have.
