Please do not proceed with Bill 66, it is wrong is so many ways - from the lack of public input required, the lack of public meetings, the lack of recourse or ability to appeal - it flies against all that we value as good governance in a democracy.
There is no red-tape crisis, our economy is booming with unemployment at a 40 year low. Business is not being hampered by regulation - this good planning and rules are the reason we are leading the G7 and globally. Ontario is continually ranked as one of the best places in the world to live and do business along with a couple of Australian and some European cities.
The exemptions that could be allowed under this act would undermine our water protections, land protections, planning processes and any ability to have a co-ordinated cohesive planning framework in the future.
Seldom has there ever been such a bill that would benefit so few at the cost of so much and so many.
Please stop Bill 66, protect our water, our Greenbelt, our lakes and our natural resources. Please don't trash any more environmental protections and instead step up to rather than away from the need to address climate change.
