The Longest Freshwater Beach in the World deserves better than it has been getting over the past 40 decades in Wasaga Beach. Our provincial park picnic areas including parking areas have been neglected. Overgrowth and poison ivy has taken over our beach and park areas once enjoyed by thousands of families annually. Many of the provincial park areas for parking were no longer accessible because of excessive sand and overgrowth. Albeit this year I have finally seen some sand excavating from areas that were originally designed to accommodate parking.
Allenwood Beach ownership is officially back in Wasaga Beach’s control and is finally receiving some overdue TLC. It is seeing record crowds this year and being enjoyed by beach goers. New Wasaga Beach has been neglected by the province and is being overgrown by poison ivy on the beach itself.
The Town of Wasaga Beach understands the needs of the community and its assets. The Town is in a better to position to make the best decisions for the whole of Wasaga Beach. The Province hasn’t been vested in Wasaga Beach for many years and unfortunately it shows.
