Beach 1 and 2 have parklands and green space used by thousands each year, it’s not just about the beach access the park areas are used. The town will ultimately develop this land, that is why they want it. The province needs to remain the steward of that land or it will ultimately not remain green space. It’s hard to recreate public parks and green spaces when they are lost. It is not just used by day trippers but by locals who bike walk and jog on the trails. Not to mention all the wildlife, the piping plovers on beach 1 and on beach 2 there is much wildlife, birds, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, foxes and more that reside in the green wooded areas in beach 2. Any development would completely destroy those habitats. Right now the people who use the park and the wildlife co exist which will not be the case if there is any development in that space which realistically we know the Town will ultimately do or why else would they want the land and the expense of maintaining the park if they do not plan to develop it at some point.
This may be the governments worst idea since selling parts of the green belt.
