This pit is unnecessary edition given past extractions and limits not being met. If walker is having issues extracting from current pits better planning should have been conducted to ensure suitable sites were chosen. This location is within close proximity to a water body and sits high on the water table. The town of Durham has severely impacted the ecosystems ability to store water and has caused mass flooding events due to development in the area. Further development in such close proximity to the water body will only further impact water storage capabilities and could undermine the river and lead to further issues. This would not be in compliance with the floodplain act.
