The non toxic shot requirement should be scrapped, since the MNRF allowed this problem to proliferate despite the concerns of fishermen and now we have to clean up their mess. This solution was proposed many years ago, but fell on deaf ears?
If the MNRF want hunters to cull these birds there has to be some incentive, with deer you get the meat, not so with cormorants, who would eat one? At least let us use cheaper ammo or give us a significant credit on licence fees.
