As a climber that frequents climbing areas across Ontario, from Mt Nemo and Rattlesnake, to Calabogie, I am glad that climbing is being considered to be added as a recreational activity at Devil’s Glen.
Climbing as a growing sport has given a new dimension for visitors to enjoy the great Canadian outdoors. Within climbing culture there is a great respect for nature and preservation. I have seen videos of Ontario climbers cleaning up trash left by hikers/visitors at areas such as Lion’s head and reporting issues online such as poison ivy on trails or cautioning visitors about wildlife nesting.
I firmly believe that the addition of climbing as an activity at Devil’s Glen will bring greater enjoyment to the area and more visitors that care for the conservation of the surrounding environment.
