The Jamesville project design and intention should not be dictated by developers. Our lives, the design and liveability of our our shared environment and vision into the future must not be determined by developer profits. What once was a geared to income home for families in a walkable area with mature trees, courtyards designed with appropriate density to house many is proposed to be turned into something entirely different. Towers must limited and dispersed judiciously throughout the city in a way that protects and respects liveability which includes thoughtful consideration of scale. The most desirable quality of life that should be available to all, no matter the income or status in life must include space, nature and green space including trees, open skies, limited traffic, social connection, walkability, community hubs, schools, libraries and essential access to affordable grocery stores and small business. The proposed revised plan that would be pushed through by way of MZO is folly and contrary to building and maintaining the liveable neighbourhood I have described. The focus must not be the developers agenda for maximum profit to produce the final outcome for how we live in our city now and in the future. If cities evolve with developers driving the process, profits are the only consideration. That does not make for a well designed city where liveabilty and community is the goal.
