Hello, I am a 4th generation resident of the North end of Hamilton and I oppose the changes to the original plan for this development. We as residents had full input for the original planning and now a very different plan with double the numbers and very limited details is being pushed forward from our mayor and our Ward 2 representative. An extremely misleading article was placed in the local newspaper encouraging residents to contact the MZO to push this plan through so we could have affordable housing again, but the plan is not to have affordable housing until the very end of the construction and a very small portion of it will be affordable. That is a terrible misleading way to treat the residents. This area of Hamilton is a lower income neighbourhood so seeing anything with affordable housing is going to peek an interest and have everyone's attention to vote for it but that is not what is really behind the curtain. We have suffered for many years with the eye sore of many decrepit buildings in our area so to be offered something that will look better and house people has us very intrigued but not at the expense of our rights. We had professionals study the area and the best plan for the area was approved by City hall. Now the plan is to double the market rate units which the infrastructure and traffic can't handle and remove green space. This is nothing more than a money grab by greedy developers and city officials that want to meet quotas. This proposal is a picture of a drawing that looks like it came for a cocktail bar napkin and they want us to agree to it, how shameful that we be treated with such neglect. These changes will impact our everyday lives and it is not being taken seriously enough. Please agree to the original setting sail plan that was already approved by the city so that we can see the area built up again and have people move back. The original plan would not allow large towers to be built around the waterfront and block the view for the rest of the Hamilton residents. That is the plan we should stick with.
