Entirely in favour to the…

I’m entirely in favour of the proposed park plan modifications at Devils Glen so long as they protect and promote climbing as a recreation resource.

As a local resident on the Georgia Bay region and longtime climber I’ve enjoyed this park for many years and the adjacent MNR property. I move my family to the area in 2000 in a large part due to the opportunity to climb at Devils Glen.
I encourage Ontario Parks to work closely with the climbing community and with the Ontario Alliance of Climbers to implement practical and proven best practises around climbing management in parks and collaborate on adjustments to the management going forward.
I would also encourage the park be proactive in helping to protect climbers from the ongoing vexatious and harassing behaviour of several players which they are aware of. My young children who enjoy Devils Glen and are put at risk by the lack of action by Ontario Parks to help protect users from several bad apples whose NIMBY behaviour should not be confused with supporting the local community. Failure to protect park visitors is unacceptable.

Cooperation, education, and communication will help to make Devil’s Glen provincial Park a great outdoor recreation resource for the Georgian Bay community and I look forward to lending a hand to help make the changes successful.
