I think it's valuable to have designated rock climbing spots to distinguish between protected and unprotected areas. Rock climbing is a healthy outdoor activity that can foster appreciation and hopefully preservation of nature and our parks. Rock climbers often will have understanding of wilderness safety and, as demonstrated recently in the tragic missing person recovery in Montana, willingness to adjust their original plans to assist.
