I support all comments provided by the Ottawa Field Naturalists' Club on this issue. It is very surprising that the proposed hunting season also includes the nesting and fledgling season of the cormorants, when conservation management programs typically protect the nesting season to ensure the sustainability of a managed species. This and human safety concerns regarding hunting during the summer season when other recreational uses occur in and around cormorant habitats (including boating, swimming, fishing, and birdwatching) should be seriously considered.
