There appears to be no clear scientific data that would support changing the species at risk legislation that already exists. This government is acting with a complete lack of transparency during a time when multiple species require protection due to extreme weather events and forest fires. Please enforce the species at risk regulations and ensure that “Special Concern” species are moved to the protected list. Provincial oversight for aquatic and migratory bird species should be stringently maintained. Habitat protection and recovery planning should be part of responsible conservation management. I would ask that the Species Conservation Act be withdrawn and the Endangered Species Act be restored for future generations of ALL Ontarians.
