I’m not sure why the Ontario government feels that we need less regulations when it comes to endangered species. People I know who are educated in this area are saying it’s a bad idea, for which I have to agree. Read more

There appears to be no clear scientific data that would support changing the species at risk legislation that already exists. This government is acting with a complete lack of transparency during a time when multiple species require protection due to extreme weather events and forest fires. Read more

Doug Ford has little respect for life. He has no understanding of the interdependence of all species, humans being a species as well, in the web of life. I recommend that he enroll in an Environmental Education Course before he eliminates those as well. Read more

I am thoroughly against this. Opportunistic, short sighted and irresponsible. You need land? Intensify urban sprawl and redevelop under-utilized government properties. So many other options. Change the tax structure to discourage investment properties. Read more

Asking for comments is almost belittling at this point. The Ontario government has shown again and again that its people are not valued in any way. Our land is not valued in any way. We are repeatedly made to be fools at the expense of greed and corruption. Read more

Because this change is taking Ontario down a path that lacks the protections afforded by The Endangered Species Act (ESA) I ask that the government: 1. Withdraw the Species Conservation Act and restore the Endangered Species Act. Read more

I strongly support Earthroot's position that demands to: 1.Withdraw the Species Conservation Act and restore the Endangered Species Act. 2.Reassign all “Special Concern” species to the protected list and maintain provincial oversight for aquatic and migratory bird species. Read more

Well, this is just as bad as the euphastically entitled proposals in the United States. I could make a whole lot of points based on the science and law but it seems that they are generally ignored because of the underlying political process. Read more

I vehemently oppose the changes to species at risk protections proposed within the Species Conservation Act. The changes to habitat definitions do not align with scientific data nor the ecology of the animals this act proports to protect. Read more

I oppose putting economic growth ahead of species protection. I urge the Ontario government to bring back mandatory recovery plans that includes long-term recovery strategies for species at risk, not just short-term fixes. Read more

To amend the Endangered Species Act and substitute it with the Species Conservation Act is nothing more than a smoke screen for continued destruction of habitat and wildlife conservation. The price we will end up paying is not worth the development we think is so important. Read more

If anything, the Endangered Species Act needs to be strengthened/expanded, NOT diluted OR weakened in any form. No species should be removed that already have status until they are NO LONGER ENDANGERED. Species need protection. We need biodiversity!

I oppose putting economic growth ahead of species protection scientific findings shouldn’t be politically vetoed - protect evidence based conservation Don’t limit the definition of habitat -recovery depends on future restoration zones. Read more

I strongly oppose the Species Conservation Act, which threatens endangered species, biodiversity and natural habitat, all in favour to developers. The environment IS the economy: protect the environment! I demand that Ontario: Read more
