Background:

I have canoed, camped and fished along 50 miles of the Goulais River for 70 years.
It is one the most scenic and accessible rivers in Northern Ontario.
It is home to Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Pike, Muskie, Pickerel, Rainbow Trout and 3 species of Salmon.

I am supportive of the expansion of the Ski Resort and recognize the need to upgrade the sewage system.

It troubles me greatly to read that “ The treated effluent will be discharged to the Goulais River.“

Questions:

1. Will the system have a subsurface septic bed? If not, then why?
2. Can the discharge be directed to the wetland directly to the west of the resort for “secondary treatment' to remove more of the nitrates, phosphates and ammonia?
3. Will the resort also have a separate ”grey-water” disposal system?
4. Will the resort operator be required to post guidelines for clients to protect the sewage system?
5. How will the sewage sludge be disposed of?
