I would like you to reconsider the proposals in Bill 60, and remove wording that gives the Province standing to interfere in Municipal transit/traffic strategy. In particular I would ask that the Provincial government not be allowed to dictate such things as bicycle and transit lanes in cities/towns and to desist from trying to remove speed cameras.
There are simply too many single occupant vehicles in Ontario. Making laws/controls that disincentive people from making non-car transit choices simply makes no sense. Bike lanes make everyone safer, and reduce the number of cars on the road, red light/speed cameras reduce moving violations and make everyone safer. The provinces own research bears these assertions out. Any move by the provincial government that ignore their own findings is simply a political ploy, and an attempt to rob municipalities of their self-control.
For the sake of all users of the public spaces and thoroughfares in Ontario. Desist.
