I live in the Bloorcourt neighborhood. Both of my sons play organized baseball in the area. We bike together to their games and practices, using Bloor bike lanes. It is the most efficient way for us to access the fields. If the bike lanes are removed, it will force me and my children to share Bloor, obviously a busy east-west corridor in the city, with rush hour traffic. I know at least one individual whose life was catastrophically altered after being run over by a dump truck while on her bike. I don't want me and/or my children to share the same fate for participating in something as fundamental to childhood health and wellness as organized sports.
Bike lines help keep cyclists out of their cars, reducing the number of vehicles on the road. Please continue to help keep these additional vehicles off the road by leaving the bike lines as they are, and adding new ones to reduce the number of cars on our roads even further.
