I opposed these changes! Repeal Bill 5. Reinstate environmental protections including the conservation boards. Removing boards removes community input in how our government is being lead. Communities don’t need one-size-fits-all conservation solutions they need their freedom to determine how they want to protect their habitat. This is all thinly veiled capitalism pretending that they a building homes while all at the long-term cost of decimated habitats, deaths of many species, and the beginning stages of a fascist regime’s agenda to cripple the power of the people and cipher it up to the 1%. I’d even go as far as saying Doug Ford’s “government” has committed treason against the well being of our people by gutting the publicly funded institutions that serve the public their heath and well-being. I do not understand how our government could fail its people so poorly and so many people don’t even realize their basics fundamental rights being sold off, little by little.
This bill would serve as a gateway to the Ford governments plan to remove school boards. Excuse me? I don’t want the government having anymore power of what my kids learn at school. That kind of power, in the wrong hands, could be disastrous. And I guarantee you once they had that power, they would start banning books and censoring what children can learn. "Where they burn books, they will ultimately burn people too,"
So clearly, I’m afraid of what’s going on in the States. I’m afraid that if we don’t start protecting every single one of our rights, the government will slowly and unceremoniously grab as much power from us as they can and we will end up in the currently, fascist led country, the United States of America. I literally don’t know how I can write that sentence today and it be true. I am afraid.
