Bike lanes benefit business. Cyclists and pedestrians shop more frequently than drivers.
A Toronto study (Bloor Street, 2017, University of Toronto/TCAT) found that after bike lanes were installed, sales increased 4.45% on that stretch — equal to or higher than areas without lanes.
Similar results were found in Vancouver (Union Street) and New York City, where businesses on streets with new bike lanes saw up to 49% higher retail sales growth compared to nearby areas.
Is this conservative government working against small business?
