I do not trust Searchmont Resort Inc. to construct, operate and manage this waste water treatment plant with integrity. This is based solely on the facts presented in the supporting documentation provided.
"On March 13, 2024, a routine sewage works inspection was completed by an Environmental Compliance Officer (Officer) with the MECP. During the site visit, the Officer noticed that the
existing villa building had been renovated, resulting in a change from 12 units to 16 units, which was not permissible under the terms of the ECA."

Searchmont Resort Inc. knew that their current ECA was out dated and in March of 2020 had their first initial meeting with the MECP to discuss the idea of a WWTP. However, they proceeded to complete renovations that were not environmentally allowed under the terms of their current ECA.

How can we trust that Searchmont Resort will follow the terms of this new ECA for sewage?
If the terms of this new ECA are not fully respected or mishandled intentionally or not, the risks involved with the operation of a WWTP will not be contained to the resort property itself. It will affect the water quality of the Goulais River and all human, aquatic and environmental components that it sustains and supports.
Please do not grant Searchmont Resort the permission to this new ECA when they have proven that they cannot abide by the terms of their current ECA.
