I strongly disagree with Infrastructure Ontario's latest TOC proposal for Oakville Ontario. This proposal completely ignores the collapse of the condominium market. From my review of the revised proposal, there appears to be no market analysis, no risk assessment, and no credible rationale for proceeding with a project of this size, complexity and scale. It does not help meet the need for affordable housing, it does not respond to the need for family-oriented housing, and it poses serious risks to our town’s livability and infrastructure. There is simply no reasonable basis for this project to move forward with this level of density.
And what is even more maddening is that Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Infrastructure themselves, have completely ignored all the previous constituents feedback that was compiled into a superior alternative, OPA 70, that was unanimously approved by Town Council last February. The alternative Town approved plan is ready to go, and sitting on the Housing Minister’s desk, awaiting approval.
If the Doug Ford government wants my vote in future elections, they need to act on the Townspeople's feedback on the TOC proposal and consider the OPA 70 counterproposal.
Respectfully,
An Oakville Town (Concerned) Citizen
