The watersheds of Northern Ontario are completely different that those in other regions of Ontario. Unlike southern Ontario we only have one conservation authority in our region . It doesn't make sense for our local needs to combine then adminstrative and permitting functions of the LRCA with another region that is so far away in Ontario. Our board members and municipalities (through their representatives) play an active role in the activities of the CA and generally decisions reflect issues that are highly relevant and important to people this region at the headwaters of the greatest lake. If anything the LRCA could be expanded to include other nearby and significant watersheds that are managed. In the region (eg the Nipigon and aguasabon watersheds as this could simplify industrial development and permitting on those watersheds (and alleviate MNR duplication) . I do not support the amalagamation of the LRCA with another area of Ontario. In my past professional life I spent some time working with yhe LRca on issues of water management . I am not affilia with any organization at this time although I am a resident of the city of Thunder Bay and the municipality of Shuniah so I have observed how they work with the local municipalities. Thanks.
