To the Minister of Infrastructure:

I am a resident and homeowner in Oakville, Ontario. I have lived in Oakville since 2011. My family and I currently live in Ward 3, several blocks from the proposed TOC.

We are strongly opposed to the proposed TOC. We believe that the project is extreme and excessive in terms of scale and density, that it will lead to major traffic and construction problems, and that it is contrary to sound urban planning principles and the expressed wishes of the majority of Oakville residents.

We instead support the Town of Oakville's draft OPA for Midtown, which is pro-growth and pro-density, but (unlike the TOC) would allow for responsible growth of Midtown and a vibrant, mixed use, liveable part of Oakville. We also note that Oakville is already exceeding its housing targets and that its OPA would continue in this positive direction. The TOC is unnecessary and would adversely impact Oakville for decades to come. Over the last couple of years, hundreds of people have been turning out to Town of Oakville and other local meetings to express their opposition to the TOC.

We are also concerned about the secretive process that resulted in the TOC. The TOC seems to have been arranged by the Province behind closed doors with a single developer (Distrikt) without significant community support or real and substantial consultation with the public.

In summary, Oakville's draft OPA is a much better plan for the development of Midtown and we request that the Province approve it.

Best regards,

Geoff Allen
