While I can appreciate the need to increase housing in Oakville, something to this degree without the infrastructure for proper transportation is irresponsible. Traffic at Cornwall/ Trafalgar, Cross/ Trafalgar and QEW/ Trafalgar is already out of control with no one monitoring it.
People coming out of the GO area are already rushing red lights and sitting in/ blocking the intersections in all of the above mentioned intersections and this blocking of oncoming traffic to move forward is already clogged up: adding more bodies/ vehicles to an already dangerous situation is irresponsible and our traffic will be just as bad as Toronto. Which is a laughing stock all over the world due to their limitations and lack of city planning and they have great public transportation (which doesn’t work in Oakville as you need a car to get around).
Unless Halton and Oakville figure out traffic lights and implement punishment for people seeing that said individual cannot move forward without blocking traffic but feels entitled and goes anyway, no one should be thinking of making it worse by inserting more people. And yes, it will be worse.
Building more homes without roads to accommodate is a huge mistake and just greedy. Go North of Dundas more.
Oakville is a lovely place to live but the lack of police presence monitoring inconsiderate drivers is the issue the city needs to focus on, not charging mass amounts of money to get more property taxes and making life worse for current residents.
This would be a disaster for everyone who already needs to drive near the GO station around rush hour. It already takes nearly 20 minutes+ to get through Cornwall/Cross/ QEW on Trafalgar Rd. Missing their green lights multiple times because it is not monitored for selfish people driving illegally. Fix current problems before creating new ones.
Cities upset Mr. Ford took away speed trap cameras? Insert Red light cameras that take photos of license plates of those stuck in the intersection and get those who think they deserve to delay everything by racing the red and sitting in the intersections and send massive tickets like Mississauga started doing.
I would put money down Oakville make more money than the speed traps.
How about making an on/off ramp that connect to the current on/off ramps from the GO to the QEW directly to protect city roads and residents.
Thank you for your time. Clearly, I personally don’t agree with this proposal at all. They need to fix current issues before causing more.
