I support adding housing, especially around transit, but the scale being proposed doesn’t seem reasonable. We don’t need 50-60-storey towers packed with small units when the infrastructure around them isn’t there yet. Roads, schools, parks, local retail, parking, and transit capacity all need to keep up, and right now they don’t.
Also, the market already has more than enough small condos. What’s missing — and what families actually need — are affordable, larger units (3-4 bedrooms) that people can actually live in long-term. A project of this size should commit to that instead of just maximizing density with small apartments.
I support development, but it needs to be scaled to what the area can realistically support, and it needs to deliver housing types the community actually lacks. This proposal should come back with lower tower heights and a real plan for infrastructure and family-friendly housing.
