A single 'conservation' authority stretching from Guelph/K/W to Sarnia to Windsor to Six Nations?
An absolutely ludicrous idea that waters down the important work that the individual conservation authorities around the province currently do.
Having worked at both a larger CA and a smaller CA, I understand the different focus and work that was undertaken at each - one more grassroots than the other, but important work being undertaken at both with a local-level attention to detail.
I'm never surprised by the asinine ideas that come out of our current provincial government, but all this does is minimize the smaller municipalities' input, and paves the way (pardon the pun) for developers and other large-scale projects to be pushed through without proper oversight and input/permits from the local CAs.
This idea is a total disaster.
