Ontario is a massive province. Our environment and ecosystems are diverse and unique. The needs and desires of local communities and residents also differ. Local decision making has allowed us to have a say and to ensure the needs of our unique place in Ontario is preserved for our benefit and the benefit of future generations.
Our local conservation authorities have proposed solutions that keep things local while addressing challenges. Merging entities is not proving to be a successful solution in other sectors. Let’s not continue to repeat these mistakes.
I agree with Hamilton Conservation Authority's submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.
