We are at the point in time where we need to prioritize environmental issues in order to provide a healthy habitat for our children and grandchildren. Unfortunately most politicians (including Mr. Ford) are very short sighted and only look to the very near term. Localized conservation authorities are crucial to protecting our environment. They know the areas including watersheds, endangered species etc etc.
The fact that you are trying to water this down by consolidation just adds to the popular opinion that the current Ontario government is pro development and caters to big contributors to the campaign. Witness the 413 highway.
We need politicians who have a long term view on this very serious matter. Let’s see if this government can leave the conservation authorities alone to do their very good work. This decision would help counteract the popular opinion that this government is very corrupt. Right now this proposal is widely perceived as a help to Mr. Ford’s developer buddies.
He needs to listen to his constituents.
Thank you
