This is a terrible idea and a very thinly veiled way for Ford to gut conservation efforts in Ontario.
"Among the changes, the legislation empowers the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks to “issue directions to the agency” when they consider “it to be in the public interest to do so.”" was what the Belleville Intelligencer reported and I think this is a glaring admission of wanting to change the system in order to dismantle it from within.
It's absurd to think shoving 16 conservation authorities into one will be efficient, let alone the needs of the communities the conservation areas serve will continue to be met in a relevant to the area way.
This is an unacceptable move and I am strongly opposed to it.
