I oppose the legislation allowing for municipal "open for business" bylaws. All municipalities should throw this "tool" into the deep end of a lake, before all the lakes are polluted and ruined.

The reason why factories are not locating in Ontario is NOT because of "red tape" or environmental laws. The reason has to do with globalized economies. The race to the bottom-- factories look to locate where they can produce at scale for distribution to global markets. Geography (proximity to highways, railway lines) and dirt-cheap la

bour are the key factors.

Anyone who has looked at the demise of the North American industrial economy knows that small business creates more jobs than globalized manufacturers. The big players are offshore. Those that remain are automating and taking workers out of the picture as fast as technology allows. Even truck drivers will be obsolete soon (self-driving vehicles!) So allowing businesses to pollute recklessly is not the carrot you think it is.
